Sexual Objectification refers to thinking of a person not as a doorstop, but as a sexual object, there to provide pleasure to others. An objectified image in this sense would be one that emphasizes the person's sexuality, usually by showing a fair amount of skin. In the majority of cases, objectification refers to the portrayal of a semi-clothed woman's body intended to emphasize her sexuality. Instagram has allowed this to become a massive part of its content. Women post revealing images of themselves to gain male followers. Men also display images of females, referring to them as objects to increase stature in the eyes of other men. This thought basis is demeaning and rude to women. Toxic masculinity promotes this mindset and has allowed it to grow to such a scale that people are making a living off of it by posting photos, such as those on this page, gaining followers from them.
